Historic Changes Introduced to IELTS 2019

International English Language Testing System or popularly recognized as IELTS is designed by the Cambridge University and managed jointly by the British Council and IDP. It’s an English proficiency test for study, work and migration purposes.

  • IELTS Exam Pattern consists of four sections i.e. speaking, listening, reading and writing.
  • The listening, reading and writing sections are conducted within a day. Whereas, the speaking section may be conducted on the same day or separately on another day.

A number of changes have been observed in IELTS 2019, which the candidates must be aware of before applying.

Fee Hike in IELTS 2019

The registration fee for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training test has been revised. From $ 178, it has been increased to $ 187. This change applies to both modes – paper delivered and computer-based test.

Acceptable mode of medium for IELTS 2019 Registration are as follows:

  • Through Demand Draft
  • Through Net Banking and Credit/Debit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
  • Bank Deposit: The deposit slip can be downloaded from the official website or obtained from the official branch office/ referral partner.

IELTS: No longer compulsory for Healthcare Professionals

Healthcare professionals like doctors, midwives, nurses and dentists looking forward to practising in the U.K no longer need to appear for tests like IELTS and TOEFL. Their OET (Occupational English Test) scores will now be accepted, which they have to clear to register with the relevant healthcare regulator.

Exam Mode

Candidates can have a choice between taking IELTS in computer-based mode or paper-based mode. Registrants can pick the mode as per their preference and test centre availability. The computer-based test centres are available in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad etc.

IELTS exam pattern remains the same for both online and offline modes, both modes offer the same format, questions, time and both of the modes get accepted by the educational institutions around the world, however, some advantages of taking IELTS in a computer-based mode are as follows:

  • Result Availability: Quicker availability of result can be a great advantage for some. While the results of IELTS paper-based test are available in approximately 13 days. The results of the computer-based test will be available in 5-7 days.
  • More options in Test Dates: With the introduction of computer-based tests, there can be a significant rise in the number of available test dates and slots. Although computer-delivered testing isn’t available in every center yet however the addition of another mode gives a choice to the test takers.
  • Bad Handwriting? No more a problem: IELTS test-takers often worry about their handwriting and presentation. Computer-delivered test is an accurate solution for such test takers.
